Shares of Panera Bread Co. (Disclosure: part of Compass Global Trends's portfolio) soared Thursday, the day after the company announced plans to sell and refranchise 73 stores and increase its buyback program.
Shares shot up $18.97, or 11.6%, and closed at $182.89.
The Sunset Hills-based bakery cafe chain, said late Wednesday that it expects to purchase $500 million in shares within the next 12 months.
