Adobe, which is one of the leading positions of the Mutual Fund Compass Global Trends, entered the second quarter with solid inertia. The company’s sales grew by 17% during the first quarter, which marks a modest slowdown comparing the increase of 21% for the previous period. This result surpassed investors’ expectations and at the same time reflects solid demand for the subscription-based platform. The Chief Financial Officer Dan Durn declared at the end of March: “Our inertia has successfully positioned us in 2022 and forward”.The good results are undoubted fact, but despite this, there are warning flags in this message. The company marks a slowdown in the growth in Europe along the conflict in Ukraine. It is felt in comparison with the results from the last several years. There is also a discrepancy between the predictions of the CEO Shantanu Narayen and investors’ attitude. Narayen’s team predicts another double-digit increase in sales, while the investors’ sentiments are pessimistic and expect a second consecutive quarter of slowdown.
Adobe lowered their expectations back in March, but the correction applied mainly for the European and Asian markets. It is still uncertain that these corrections will be transferred to the prospects for the American segment, which is key for the company. However, even if we see a decline in the expected profits, the long-term picture remains positive. The company has a dominant position in several categories, which will likely grow over the next 10 years.
Digital media is everywhere and Adobe’s tools are crucial for their creation, function, and service. Adobe, as a service, offers promising cash flow, which should support the growing product portfolio, and at the same time realize direct return for the shareholders.
