After the strongly negative last quarter of 2018, January started with a return of investor optimism. MF Compass Euroselect ended the month with a price of 0.8737 EUR per share, which is an increase of 4.82% compared to the end of December. European stock indexes also reported a partial recovery amid improved rhetoric regarding the US-China trade relations.
Among the companies in the fund's portfolio, which published results for the last quarter of 2018, the most significant increase in January noted: the company producing high-end carbonated beverages Fevertree (+ 19.42% in euros), the German company offering cyber security services and Secunet cryptography (+ 18.72% in euros).
Although macroeconomic indicators continue to fluctuate, expectations for their coming improvement are beginning to rise. However, the geopolitical risks that affect the global economy have not yet disappeared. Accordingly, the higher risk, typical for investments in shares (the assets of MF Compass Euroselect are mainly invested in shares), determines the longer-term investment horizon. Given the fundamental characteristics and competitive advantages of the companies selected in the portfolio of MF Compass Euroselect, the fund's management expects them to continue their growth in the long run.
