MF Compass Euroselect is maintaining a growth of over 10% compared to the beginning of the year, despite the negative month for the securities portfolio. In October, the leading indexes on stocks in developed markets reported an increase. An exception was the London FTSE index, which fell by -2.16% given Brexit and the appreciation of the British pound.
In October, the largest growth of shares in the portfolio of MF Compass Euroselect was realized by: the French luxury goods company Kering (+ 10.2% in EUR), the Irish Smurfit Kappa (+ 9.5% in EUR) and the Finnish UPM-Kymmene Oyj (+ 7.5% in EUR) wood processors, the world leader in the production of dental implants Straumann Holding (+ 6.3% in EUR) and the German manufacturer of medical devices Siemens Healthineers AG (+ 5.5% in EUR).
Although we have seen positive developments in USA-China negotiations over the past month, the exact parameters of the first phase of the potential agreement remain to be clarified. Increased geopolitical risks and weak data on the euro area economy continue to contribute to the volatility of the financial markets in Europe (all companies in MF Compass Euroselect portfolio are based in Europe). In this context, although the portfolio of MF Compass Euroselect is not isolated from short-term fluctuations in value, the selection of companies in it has the potential for significant growth in the long run given its fundamental characteristics.
