Meta - leader in the social media platforms

Jul 13, 2022

The year didn't start well for social media stocks. They were subjected to aggressive sales. However, they remain good companies with high potential. We cannot ignore the fact that the Meta (Facebook) platform is extremely successful in attracting users. Among social networks, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp are consistently among the most downloaded apps. They collectively brought to Meta 3.64 billion monthly active users in the first quarter. This essentially means that every month more than half of the world's adult population uses the Meta-owned social platform. It is because of this fact that it is not surprising to anyone that the company has an extraordinary power in generating income through advertisements.

The future of Meta is all about the metaverse (the next interaction of the internet). It will allow connected users to interact with each other in 3D virtual worlds. Building such a parallel world will take years, but the company is nonetheless positioning itself as a key trillion-dollar ramp.

Meta is part of the portfolio of one of Compass Invest's mutual funds and will remain so, despite the drop in price from the beginning of 2022. The stock is currently historically cheap relative to Wall Street's future earnings estimates.
