How Did the Pandemic Impact AMAZON.COM

The pandemic, which began in March 2020, gave a strong push to the e-commerce. Social distancing and the lockdown of large retail outlets lead to a boom in online shopping. The companies, that changed their focus to accepting and processing online orders, were in a very beneficial position during the lockdown. 
 
In the same positive situation is Amazon (part of the portfolio of the Mutual Fund “Compass Global Trends”) with its purchase of Whole Foods in 2017. Subsequently, the food supplies expanded to 110 million consumers. This, of course, helped them in positioning better than other competitors during the pandemic. During the second quarter of 2020, online sales of groceries of Amazon tripled.
 
The graph below shows growth of almost 90% in the stock price from 20 March 2020 until the beginning of September of the same year.
