Over the previous month, the unprecedented rise of the interest rates on US government short-term bonds continued. Due to the inherent feedback of the bonds between the interest rates and the prices, the rise in interest rates means a decline in bonds prices and a report in a negative result. The analysis of the technical indicators shows that the 2-year US Treasury bonds have already been sold out, which should lead to the moment of reversal of this trend, resumption of purchases, and respectively, realization of positive results.
These market movements reflect, along with other risks, the tightening of the Fed's monetary policy in an attempt to counter the accelerating inflation. Three consecutive increases in the main interest rate by 50 basis points are expected. At the same time, the inflation, which is measured by the consumer price index, in the US reached 8.5% on an annual basis in March. This is the highest growth of the index since 1981.
